4.17 Today is a Saturday*.

"The crisis of yesterday is the joke of tomorrow."
-H.G. Wells

I absolutely dislike those moods where you're sad and feel like crying, but have no legit reason to be in a sad mood. I feel as though I'm acting unnecessarily depressive this evening, and unfairly being a poophead. Oh well, these moods only come at night, and thankfully it will be gone in the morning!

You know what I was thinking about yet again today? Time. I think about the concept of time a lot. For instance, what if time didn't exist? Is it even possible for a civilization to exist without some concept of time? I feel like it isn't. The world was created with a natural time, night and day. This, in essence, controls our lives. Our lives revolve around, and are controlled by time. Isn't this weird? What if time didn't exist, not even the natural evidence of night and day. How would humanity function? In conclusion, I feel as though it is impossible for humanity to exist without at least a natural intuition of the concept time.

So many questions about a concept that is uselessly picked apart. Bah, these are the weird things I think about.

Some other things I've come to think about:

- Don't Stop Believing has come back to be quite a hit again, and I really don't really like this song. I won't belt it out with you, I'm sorry. I promise you, though, I will not stop believing. Even if I don't enjoy this song.

- I feel like a hypocrite for saying I am doing BEDA, because I have missed about four days. Perhaps I shall join Kristina for BAMF.**

- This mashup is quite enjoyable. Colplay & Sufjan.

For my Rad and Unrad, I'll turn to you guys. What's rad and unrad in your life right now?
(Okay, YES it's totally a rip-off of Hayley's Sexy and Unsexy. There, I said it! Bah! :])

Okay, I'm going to go and curl up into a ball underneath my sheets until I surrender unto sleep. xx

*Not only is this title boring to the max, but it is also a lie. This blog was about an hour late. Fail.
**Blog in April More Frequently. Okay, so it may be only to say I am participating in BAMF. I mean, seriously. :]

4.15 4.16 Not Again?

"That's not a good look."
"I have no words."
"It was just a joke!"
"Oh, no... wait, I thought of some.
Jerk... ass... arrogant... inconsiderate...
mindless... frat-boy... lowlife...
buttface miscreant!"
Rory & Logan

Things I wish to watch:

- Gilmore Girls. Every time I catch an episode of Gilmore Girls, it reminds me just how lovely the series is. No matter how many times you watch the entire series. Therefore, even though I am currently watching it, I wish to watch the entire Gilmore Girls series. Again.
The week before I left for college I watched the episode where Rory moves to Yale. The week after I moved in, I watched it again. It was really... neat. To be on both sides of the spectrum within a weeks time was an interesting thing.

- The old Mary Kate and Ashley movies. I haven't seen them in years, and I really want to find out what 19 year old Allyson's perspective is on them. Educated guess? I'd still enjoy them.

- Little Miss Sunshine. Because it's just that good.

- Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Because I've never seen it, and I've heard wonderful things.

- Doctor Who. Everyone is getting into it, and although I'm not usually a join the bandwagon type of girl, it must be quality.

- Dollhouse. It was only two seasons long, but I've heard wonderful things about it from multiple people.

- Spring Awakening and The Last Five Years. These musicals are not touring near me anytime soon. When Spring Awakening was in Wisconsin, I was in Minnesota. When it was in Minnesota, I was in Wisconsin. Poop on this.

Things I have seen recently:

- 42nd Street. Fun musical, very well done, incredible tap dancing.

- An Education. Watch this movie.

- Julie and Julia. Very good. I think I went into it with too high of expectations, though. Also, the end was a little... unsatisfying.

Sorry, lists are my way of copping out in this blog. I'm doing pretty awful at writing anything worthwhile for BEDA. Sadness.

Emily, thanks for the offer! :] However, I think I'm just going to buy it. I mean, it's John Green... it's worth it!

Rad: Friday nights occasionally spent alone.
Unrad: MATH.

4.14 I Exist

Looking back at old pictures,
this is probably one of my favorite candids ever.
Simply because all of our unique, unattractive faces
and awkward dress issues/hand placements. Baha. Ha.

Remember that one time I was pretty sure the U.S. was going to brush over my existence in the census this year? Well, as part of my ninja duties, I have to read the portions of the mass e-mails the University sends out that most people don't read. Today, I was pleasantly surprised to find that our founding fathers have created a country that cares about the students that go to Mankato.
"This month, the U.S. Census Bureau worked with the Department of Residential Life to obtain demographic information about students who live on campus so that you are counted in the census. So, even though you have no forms you have to fill out, you have been counted!"
Yay for existence! (Mom, please alert Father that I wasn't, in fact, neglecting to alert Obama.)
Second portion of awesomeness today. I've been winning things lately. I almost always take all those stupid surveys my college sends me online, because several of them have Barnes and Noble gift cards as incentives to take the time to do the quiz. (It amazes me how many ways you can formulate questions dealing with your consumption of alcohol.) Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised I won a free Jimmy John's sub the other day.
It gets better! A few weeks ago I entered a Tazo Tea Promotional Contest. It was one of those contests you just fill out your name, address, and press submit -- never to hear from it again. However, I was one of 700 people to win three free bottles of Tazo Tea!
These are small feats, I know. But these are day makers, people. Day makers.
I WANT TO READ WILL GRAYSON, WILL GRAYSON. My University library will be receiving it just as I leave for summer, and my hometown library won't be receiving it for a while. Sigh. It's debuting at number 3 on the New York Times Bestseller list, people. Stock this book!

I need sugar.

This is a lie.

I need to research a monologue.

Rad: Musical tomorrow.
Unrad: My face issues.

Goodnight, my lovelies. Tomorrow may produce a horrible blog.

4.13 Unafraid of the Future

Arms will open wide
I'll be safe and wanted
Finally home where I belong
while starting here my life begins.

Things I learned today:

1) Glee is producing RIDICULOUSLY unnecessary storylines. Instead of creating new conflicts, they basically re-opened all of the ones they resolved last season's finale. Stooopid.
1a) This doesn't mean I stop watching. So... perhaps mission accomplished, writers?
1b) Or maybe it's just because Idina Menzel is on the show now? Yep. Pretty fantastic.
1c) Finn's rendition of Hello, I Love You is quite fun. :]
1d) "Did you know dolphins are just gay sharks?"

2) This exists, and it is brilliant.

3) I don't have enough money on my meal plan to make it until the end of the semester. Thus, I have a new diet called starvation. Results? A very dizzy Allyson.

4) Listening to this makes me reeeally want to watch Anastasia.
4a) This too!

There's enough links to keep you occupied for the day. See you tomorrow, world.

4.10 4.11 4.12 (Fail?)

"Don't go looking for boys in the dark
They will say pr
etty things then
leave you with scars.
Do go looking for boys in the park
For that is where the true gentlemen are."
- The Luxe

(Okay, this is cute, but really? There are creepers at parks. This is probably an extremely inaccurate cute quote that gives girls another excuse to feel as though they are amazing at finding quotes that express their specific, individual feelings. When really, it should have a disclaimer on the end: "However, don't forget your pepper spray, because gentlemen often turn out to be creepers.")

Yes, yes... I missed a day. I was literally at a computer for less than five minutes on Saturday, and then wrote most of this Sunday, but got caught up with things once again. Forgive? :]

Moving on, let's talk poetry. Okay, remember the other day when I talked about William Carlos William's poem The Red Wheelbarrow? Yes well, I've researched this further. He is one of my new heroes. Anyone who can become a famous poet by writing poems like this:
It was an icy day.
We buried the cat,
then took her box
and set fire to it
in the back yard.
Those fleas that escaped
earth and fire
died by the cold.

and this:

I have eaten
the plums
the were in
the icebox.

and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast.

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold.

... is my hero.

See what I mean? How does this get you famous? I mean I know he's very much about imagery, symbolism, and imagination... but I feel like the vast amount of publishers would just laugh at him. However, I was driving with my sister this weekend and we were talking a bit about poetry when she said she always wanted to participate in a poetry slam. She said, "You have to be confident about reading your poetry. It doesn't matter if it's no good. If you are confident and there are people who don't get it, they'll assume it's their fault." I liked this.

Next. Now, I'm a fan of irony. I feel as though this is clear. Especially when it comes to music. Well, The Bird and the Bee masters irony and sarcasm in their music absolutely beautifully. I can't even link you to one song, there's so many I enjoy. Polite Dance Song, Spark, You're a Cad, and Come as You Were. Also, their covers Don't Stop the Music and How Deep is Your Love are fantastic. Shopko used to play Bird and the Bee a lot. The fact that Shopko dared to play music I am sure 90% of the of the customers had never heard before was one of the establishment's redeeming qualities.

Other music I've been recently obsessed with: Jazz from the 50s, Frank Sinatra, French indie, The Education soundtrack.

Rad: It hailed and thunder stormed this evening! This only means one thing: Rain Boots tomorrow!!
Unrad: Possibly getting sickly?

4.9 Nothing

I want new tights. You'll help me decide which. Which one is your favorite in Black, and which one is your favorite in Ivory? I'm thinking hearts/black dots/ivory.

My sister is sleeping in my bed right now, so I apologize for the lack of anything really at all in this blog. I need to be quiet, so this will be short!

Emily, I do have a channel, but I use it mostly for responses and just to keep track of subscriptions. I may make a new one soon, though. I'll talk to you later about it!

BEDA seems to be going pretty well for everyone, woo! Too bad Maureen postponed hers to August. Oh well, I'll just do it then, too.

Tomorrow I have to wake up early to get coffee with my sister and show her around campus. Then we're headed to meet up with more family. Lots I didn't get to see at Easter. So this will be lovely. Oh dear. This is my worst blog yet. Maybe Beda isn't going as well as I thought! Although, it's all about actually writing a daily blog, right? Right. Quantity not quality. Let's stick with that.

Rad: Nephews.
Unrad: Waking up early on Saturdays!

4.8 Don't Unplug Me

"She molded, folded, pasted and cut"

So, this is an hour or so late, but I haven't gone to bed. Therefore, I think it's still okay. However, as "punishment" (which is really going to be more fun than anything...) you're free to ask me anything you wish about me, and I'll answer it tomorrow.

That quote up there? It's going in my best friend Alyson and my quote museum. Yes. We already have some photographs of quotes we'll display. Although, they won't all be photographs. This museam will have quotes plastered everywhere. Fantastic, no?

Okay, so tonight I saw that this guy my friend and I were hanging out with was watching the Mystery Guitar Man, and I said "Hey! I love that guy!" He said, "Really, are you subscribed?" I said, "Yes!" Then, one of Michael Aranda's videos came up after the video was finished, and I said, "Ohhh Michael Aranda." He said, "You know Michael Aranda?" Then he asked, "What about Mitchell Davis?" I said, "Oh for sure!"

Oh, I love having conversations like this with people that are just as much Youtube nerdy as I am. And I know some of you guys are too, so I thought you'd enjoy this story. (dftba)

(While we're on this topic, how about that All Caps album, eh? I mean it's growing on me like a Chia pet grows with water!)

Anyway, I was just re-watching a few of my old favorite videos, and came across this Levi Beamish jem. That boy, I tell ya. He's a keeper. Anyone else in favor of moving to New Zealand and marrying Kiwis? Yes.

"Link, where you be?"
Link in statue. :]]

Misquote of the day:
"I'm grossed out!" - Charlie
"You're a girl scout?" - Marie

Rad: Late night dinner mint and pickle runs.
Unrad: The stomach aches you receive from binging on dinner mints. Also, my sister and best friend are in Chicago and do not care that John Green is. I, sadly, am not in Chicago. I, sadly, CARE!
