Favorite.

"Just because someone doesn't love
you the way you want them to,
doesn't mean they don't love you
with everything they have."

It seems silly to me to post a blog about happenings in the past 24 hours, as if I have been updating you quite frequently this summer. Which is very untrue. However, a summary of the summer thusfar would be vague and scatterbrained. Therefore, I'll make it quick.

Here are a few things I've learned:

- Cheering your friends up by being a loving friend does not translate to cars.
- Inception is fantastic. I would even say this is Joseph Gordon-Levitt wasn't in it. I promise.
- I throw my hands up in the air, sometimes.
- Candy cigarettes are still $.15. How they have survived years of inflation is beyond me.
- Hayville, MN has a Hay Fest. I can only imagine the exciting festivities.
- There are Walt Whitman coloring pages. I am so excited about this.
- I enjoy water this summer.
- Silly Bandz are brilliant.
- Zac Efron is just as attractive, admittedly, in person.
- Don't be fooled by the "soothing cherry" flavor. Liquid NyQuil is still as repulsive as it was when we were ten.

Now, I just thought I'd pause to share with you a fantastic poem. This girl, Shawna Howson, writes like a modern Dickinson. However, she's definitely not as creepy and promiscuous as Dickinson. :] This is one of my recent favorites of hers. You can read more of her stuff here.

You turned to me, the vivid green
It lit your eyes, the skies, the trees
You said, "My darling, flee from me
The dark is coming, I am weak."

I stood to ground, you held my eyes
We watched bleak death brew in the skies
The wind, it ripped, and tore, and blew
In shrieks I stood and turned to you.

"Who will love you? Who will fight
Back these demons in the night?
Who will whisper songs of day
To keep the ragged shades at bay?

Who will forge through death and trees
And haunt your lips so you can breathe?
Who will hold your eyes till light?
Who will love you, who will fight?

My love, I'll slay hellhounds and wraiths
I'll grapple time and wind--and chase
The deepest shadows from your face
Till they are far, and you are safe.

For if I leave you in this grass
My only love, I don't dare ask,
Who will dance with you come sunlight?
Who will dance with you come sunlight?"

Now, book talk. Has anyone read Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro? I've recently heard fantastic reviews. This is before I found out that it is coming out on film soon, and Carrie Mulligan (An Education) is starring. AH! So, I assume it has to be fantastic. Anyway, reviews are appreciated. Don't give too much away, though!

Move-in: 22 days!

Be back soon. :]

Rooted.

"Friend, it's getting late.
We should be going.
We've been sat here beneath these flickering neons for hours.
While I am cracking their code, you are deciphering me
For i am a mystery, I am a locked room in a tall tower."

Your telescope eyes see everything clearly.
My vision is blurred, but i know what i heard echoing all around.
While I am tuning you in, you are deciphering me.
Not such a mystery, not such a faint and far away sound."

I've arrived at my third week of camp. Things are going well. Busy, as always, but so good. Lots and lots of thoughts have entered my brain. This is okay, except for the fact that they have now entangled themselves, making it nearly impossible for me to coherently speak them aloud.

I took this picture last night on the way to campfire. It was so gorgeous outside. The sunset illuminated every living thing and made the Earth golden.

I'm currently reading Mere Christianity, and currently listening to Brooke Fraser. She has such such such amazing lyrics. I love her. Her entire Albertine album is phenomenal. Coincidentally, she has a C.S. Lewis song on that album. Her lyrics are the ones above (but not to the C.S. Lewis song, because I'm not that smart to put two and two together).

Another listen worth taking time to enjoy is the music of Jillian Edwards. I just found her yesterday. I'm sure there are more, but I often forget things.

Last week I had to take mug shots of over a hundred teenagers. It was awkward.
Yesterday I had to clean out a popcorn machine. It was awkward.
Our bathroom just went 5 days without toilet paper. It was awkward.
There is a penny in our shower. Wait, what?

Yes: I have a car now! For good!
No: I wish to see my beeessstt friiend.

Oh hai.

"Can we pretend that airplanes
in the night sky
are like shooting stars?
I could really use a wish right now."

Ho hum, I have nothing to write about. OH wait. I do have things to talk about. So many things. Things such as moving home, the Lost finale, the last few Glee episodes, summer escapades, books, how Miley Cyrus broke my heart and Justin Bieber filled it, etc. For this catch-up blog of sorts, I'll make it all condensed for you folks.

Moving Home: Fun. But let's go back now.
Lost: Liked (loved?) it. I don't question. All I have to say for now is that the writers have said time and time again that they wrote it as a character driven show. Keeping that in mind, the finale wrapped up the characters very well. As for everything else? Eloise said it best to Desmond, "Questions will only lead to more questions."
Glee: Artie can dance, and Idina is making regular appearances. Enough said.
Summer Escapades: Lots of car. Lots of friends. Lots of Brewers.
Books: I'm just starting to yank this into gear. Starting with Before I Fall.
Miley Cyrus: I stood up for her for so long. Now she stood me up by being stupid.

I promise to expand on a few of the aformentioned topics, but for now I just wanted to check in and quiet a few people. :]

Last Lines

Okay, so today I am participating in the Last Line Blogfest, like I said yesterday. The "last line" I chose is from one of the first chapters of my NaNoWriMo novel. So, without further ado:

Dillan diligently followed Sky down the hall and up the stairs to her room, with Ian silently trailing behind. They reached a bedroom door with a large white sign that read "Skylar Mae: Knock Please" with colorful doodles covering the paper in every direction.

She pushed the door open halfway, before pausing to face the boys. “Well… wait here please, actually.”

Dillan and Ian watched Skylar disappear into her room for a few short minutes before she returned with one full suitcase. She closed the door behind her and plopped the suitcase on the ground with a small thud.

“These are the people most important in my life.” Skylar explained, opening the suitcase, “Except for those that don’t fit."

Out of the suitcase emerged dozens of ordinary kitchen tools.

I never edited anything I wrote in November, and reading back has told me this is probably something I should do.

Anyway, that's all for today. Now I shall study.

Unrad: Spending your last weekend in the Library.

4.28 4.29 4.30 A Goodbye. Except Not.

When and why did mustaches become the new thing?
I mean, it's funny... and I kind of like them
(on inanimate objects, only!),
But why are they so popular as of late?

For three of the days I missed this month, I have blog drafts written. They're just so... useless, I didn't post them. So really, I didn't miss quite as many days. However, I still failed I suppose. Oh well, we're not all as cool as Hayley G Hoover. Anyway, today is the last day of BEDA. I still feel as though it was a success, and that I will now blog more frequently in the future (I hope you do, too!). And, I made new friends through it. This is always a plus. :]

FINALS have arrived, my friends. And the bad news is... I NEED at least a B on my math final and bio final. I literally just took a deep breath after I typed that sentence. It is not going to be easy, folks.

Okay, now I have an assignment for you. Watch This Clip. Right now, just watch it. Before you read the next paragraph.

Usually I tend to just zone out laugh tracks during sitcom episodes, which is a good thing. However, as soon as I become consciously aware of them, I cannot stop paying attention to them. Furthermore, they bug the crap outta me. Almost to the point where I cannot even watch the sitcom anymore. You see, I will know when I want to laugh, because my brain will tell me. I don't need these fake bursts of laughter to help me. Does anyone really forget to laugh, but then as soon as they hear the laugh track they go, " Oh! Right, that was funny! Ha ha ha!" Why are they even there? Who's idea was it? Bah. That's why I like The Office. They let you laugh when you want, and the awkward silence is golden.

Now watch that clip again, while you are consciously aware of each and every laugh track. Horrible, right?

Anyway, there's a blogger hosting a Last Line Blogfest tomorrow, where she's asking everyone to post a last line (with it's previous context) on your blog on May 1. Something that you've written. I have one picked out. It's from my NaNo novel. You should do it too! Just make sure to sign up.

So, that's what you'll see here tomorrow. Then, I shall write a blog about Edward Monkton, and later this week I'll post my final Summer Reading list. Three blogs a week May. This sounds doable. TBWM. :]

Rad: Done with classes!
Unrad: Packing your entire room compact enough to fit into a van.

4.27 Nom Nom

"But, I'm in my jammy jams!" -Erin
"That's okay, I'm in my worky works." -Andy
(The Office)

So, I'm like four episodes behind on The Office. Today, since I had a paper to write, I watched the St. Patties Day one in attempt to start catching up. I am so a fan of Andy and Erin. They're adorable, and Andy really likes her. It's cute.

I have only three more days of classes. It's only April 27. This is so weird! I'm going to be home in a week and two days! I don't want to leave this place and these people for so long, though. For once in my life, I wish summer was like... a month. I suppose that's what I get for going to a college where all my friends live like 8 hours away. I just hate missing people! Everywhere I go, I miss people! Can we all just congregate? Please?

But I do want to be home. And here. Make this possible, please. I refuse to be your test subject, however.

Oh! Today I workshopped my monologue for my acting class. I had just finished memorizing it this morning, so my focus wasn't completely on my delivery. Except, she loved it. And I tapped into the emotion surprisingly well. It was almost an out of body experience. I really like how easily I'm able to embody this character...much easier than the last scene I did. So, yay!

Rad: I TOTALLY rocked my math test. Best I've felt about a math test, ever.
Unrad: Sickly boyfriends. :/

Better post tomorrow, I promise! It'll be about Edward Monkton. Hang in there, April's almost over!

4.26 Can. Not. Miss.

I cannot miss another day. However, I have nothing to say. I worked on math pretty much the entire day, and this means I have to write an entire paper tomorrow. So, I will have no time to write tomorrow either.

However, remember my whiney blogs about not being able to see Muse in concert? Fear not! I have a ticket. Officially. For next October. I don't like countdowns, but if I did this would definitely be an occasion for one.

Last night my friend alerted me of the new concert locations they posted. One three-way Skype call and ten minutes later... plans were set. :] AH!

Night, ya'll. :]
