... this made me laugh really hard.
Hence the new series I am starting in this blog, called
"Link, Where You Be?"
Today, obviously, Link is in park.
I think the Registrar's Office tortures me on purpose. Amidst several hours trying to figure out what I need for my schedule and practically begging for priority registration, I overlooked the fact that all of the Into to Creative Writing classes were currently closed, assuming they would open in due time. False.
So, I did a little e-mailing yesterday (several frantic e-mails, actually) and found out this: The English department isn't aware if they are going to be able to offer many sections of the class next semester because of budget, and they won't know until summer... so I should "stay tuned". OKAY, English department, this is all fine and good... but I register tomorrow. I can't "stay tuned" until summer to register.
Ugh. Let's just hope the section or two they have open fits with my schedule, and isn't 8 AM.
Anyway, in its place I registered for a writing intensive Perspective: Lit., Film, and Human Diversity. Except it's online. Tuesday evenings. However, this means all I have on Monday is choir. This is entertaining.
Storytime.
1. Okay, so, today in literature, the student teacher girl used material in Breaking Dawn as an example for... I don't even remember. Anyway, when she said, "In the last book of the Twilight series..." There was just this inaudible simultaneous groan from the class. Bahaha.
2. The other day, I was at a Navigators meeting, and the topic of poetry came up. I can't remember why, all I remember is that he said, "Not like that poetry we were forced to study in high school about wheel barrows and chickens. Anybody remember that?" I involuntarily let out a "Hey!" and turned to my friend and said, "He just dissed the wheelbarrow poem. No one goes dissin' my wheelbarrow poem!"
Guys, the poem is ridiculous, but for some reason it holds a spot dear to my heart. William Carlos Williams can write about whatever he wants! Hah.
- "so much depends
upon
- a red wheel
barrow
- glazed with rain
water
- beside the white
chickens"
3. Something reminded me of this today, and I think I'm going to finish a story I had the workings of when this inspired me. When I worked at Shopko, I was often I cashier by the claw machine. I would often see an elderly man play for quite a long period of time, and usually he didn't stop until he won. Then, if he did win, he would sit on the bench with his newly won stuffed animal. Some days it was only a few minutes until he stood up, and other days it was several. As soon as a little girl or boy came through my line with their mother, he would stand up with prize in hand, and walk over. He would simply hand the toy to the child, and say,
"This is for you."
After some slightly confused and surprised looks from the parent followed by eventual thanks, he would walk towards the exit. I loved this man.
Question: I like my Peeps stale, do you?
Rad: I won a free Jimmy Johns sub today. Being able to wear dresses.
Unrad: Scheduling.
dftba :]
Oh no! I hope all works out with your scheduling! The online class you are wanting to take sounds pretty radical, though I don't know if I would get things done for an online class.
ReplyDeleteI don't particularly care for peeps, but my mom likes them stale and my sisters like them microwaved. Strange? I'm not sure.
I hope you figure out your classes and all. Can you change what you've enrolled in at a later date, once you know whether the class you want is running or not?
ReplyDeleteI liked the anecdote about the man with the skill tester. The world needs more people like him.
